As far as I can tell, it was a wheel hub that was made for use but never left the shop shelf.  A spare if you will.  They usually have metal rings on the top and bottom for strength, but since this is a spare they were never put on.\n\nThe light shines out all of the spoke holes as well as out the top and bottom as it sits on little riser feet.  Because of the spoke holes the shadows it throws out are awesome up against a wall.  The bulb can be easily changed out for higher or lower wattage depending on your lighting preference.\n\nIt weighs 25lbs so it’s heavy and solid.  I love this piece a lot and hate to see it go but I can’t hold onto everything.\n\nIt’s 12” wide across the middle, but the top is 8 1\/2” across.\nIt stands 14 1\/2” tall.\n\nI get a lot of compliments on this piece and you will too.
