This is a one-of-a-kind chair that is creatively built by hand using only walnut and hard maple without the use of nails or fastners. It was inspired by flipping through architectural digest magazine and seeing unique one of a kind chairs in the corners of various rooms. Time and time again. They caught my eye. A random chair in the corner of a dining room. A living room. A bedroom. All of them different. All of them one of a kind. So I decided to make my own one of a kind chair that will stand alone. Not everyone will like it. Not everyone will need it. But someone will. The design is based on a cigar box guitar. The pieces are boxy and stark and contrasting. One type of wood intersecting the other. It’s as if the back of the chair was stuck right through the seat like a pencil through cardboard.
It looks boxy, but it is comfortable to sit on. Plenty of seat space, at 5e perfect height, with the perfect angle to the backrest. There were no nails or screws used in this chair, only honest joinery.
This chair will last forever in your house and then hopefully end up in the corner of an AD magazine shoot one day.
